5 minute Salsa

So this is not traditionally “low carb” at roughly 1g of carbs per teaspoon, however, if it fits into your daily macros then this is great to have on hand for any meal!  Plus, compared to any shop bought Salsa I’ve found so far this is extremely low carb 😀

I usually make a batch and keep it in an airtight container in the fridge, it’s usually good for up to a week, although with my love for naked burgers it’s usually gone a long time before then 😀  A couple of teaspoons of this, alongside a couple of teaspoons of my 5 minute Guacamole recipe, add a little bit of cheese and you have the basics of a low carb Mexican dish..  Who said going low carb had to be boring!

So without further ado.. Enjoy!

5 minute Salsa
Macros per tsp: 6.4 kcal, 0.16g fat, 0.96g carbs, 0.22g protein
  • 4 Tomatos (roughly 320g)
  • 3 Red chillies
  • 1 Red onion
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • Juice of 1 Lemon
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  1. Roughly chop 3 of the 4 tomatoes, 1/2 of the red onion, the chillies & the garlic. Add the all to a blender.
  2. Squeeze the juice of the lemon into the blender.
  3. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Blend until you have a fine sauce like mixture.
  5. Finely chop the remaining tomato and the other half of the red onion. Stir into the salsa mix.
  6. Enjoy!
