Low Carb Marinara Sauce

This recipe was completely a DIY job that ended up becoming a regular meal prep item for me because it tasted so good! ย I use it to make chilli (mix it in with some heavy cream or coconut milkย ๐Ÿ‘Œ) and it also makes for a great pizza sauce (for those low carb cauliflower pizza days, or my latest discovery โ€“ Meatza!! ย That recipe will be up next week ๐Ÿ˜‰ ).

Essentially it was the usual criteria โ€“ low carb, gluten free, sugar free and in this case I also wanted to stay away from tomato puree as I havenโ€™t come across one I like the ingredients of yet. ย Plus tomatoes are carby enough (relatively speaking) without using a concentrate form of them. ย And so I came up with this, a single batch is only 6g carbs โ€“ try and find a pizza sauce that can beat that! ๐Ÿ˜€

Anyways, Iโ€™m rambling, sauce is sauce what else can I say except.. Enjoy!

Marinara Sauce

Ingredients
  • 200 g Tomato (roughly 3 large tomatoes)
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 Red onion
  • 3 Red chillies
  • Handful of Frash Basil
  • 1 tsp Oregano
Instructions
  1. Roughly chop the tomatoes, garlic, red onion and chillies.
  2. Add all the ingredients into a blender. (I use a Nutribullet)
  3. Blend until totally combined.
  4. Voila!
